How Your iPhone 7 Plus Create "Bokeh" Photos

Apple has just released iOS operating system update containing 10.1 Portrait mode or bokeh effects to your iPhone camera 7 Plus. No matter how good shots using the bokeh effect?

Typically, the bokeh effect produced by the camera lens with a relatively wide aperture, such as f / 1.2 or f / 2.

At the opening, the focus becomes very narrow scope. This means that objects that are in the room can look sharp focus, while the background be out of focus or blur.

But Apple outsmart a way berbeda.Efek bokeh in Portrait mode on the iPhone 7 Plus is obtained by utilizing a dual lens camera and photo processing using software.

When iPhone 7 Plus used photographing, 56 mm telephoto lens will be used to record images. While the wide-angle lens is used to collect data depths of space, and then turn it into nine layers of the image based on the distance between the camera and the object.

After getting nine layers of the image, the software will select the sharp layer and the layer that will be created blur. The farther the distance of the image layer with the camera, the blur effect is applied will be stronger.

However, it should be noted, blur mechanism in Portrait mode is imperfect. There are a number of conditions that make the software can not read and apply the blur appropriately, eg obek moving and low light conditions.

More specifically, the following are some examples of photos that captured using the Portrait mode:

iPhone 7 Plus can also give a bokeh effect in the photo does not show the face

Portrait mode uses the help of face detection sensors to separate the space between sharp and blur. However, in the example of this photo, it seems these features are not always necessary.

Photos taken from the back does not show the face, but still could blur the necessary parts (background). The body of the object was still visible.

iPhone 7 Plus can produce bokeh effects at different levels according to the distance between the object to the camera

Contrast lighting also contribute to determine the quality of the bokeh camera iPhone 7 Plus

Portrait Mode iPhone 7 Plus may work better in some circumstances. For example, the distance of the object that is farther away from the camera, or when the light is abundant and can show the contrast between background and foreground objects.

Camera iPhone 7 Plus can also capture the depth of field and bokeh effects to photos like this

The most interesting thing of this feature, Portrait mode can also work on objects that do not embed photos humans. For example in the lined container stickers or paint on top. IPhone 7 Plus users can still get a blur effect trim to accentuate the depth of field space.
